    Digital Twin for Industrial Robotics

    Get PDF
This thesis aims to develop a Digital Twin model for robot programming that incorporates Virtual Reality (VR). The digital twin is a concept of creating a digital replica of a physical object (such as a robot), which is similar to establishing a model simulation along with some additional functionalities. Simulation software, such as robot operating system (ROS) or other industrial-owned simulation platforms, simulates a robot operation and sends the details to the robot controller. In contrast to this, the Digital Twin model establishes a two-way communication channel between the digital and the physical models. In this thesis, the proposed Digital Twin model can help in online/remote programming of a robotic cell with high accuracy by creating a 3D digital environment of a real-world physical setup, which is similar to watching a movie with 3D glasses. To create a Digital Twin model, the gaming platform is used that comes with specialized plugins for virtual and augmented reality devices. One of the main challenges in any robotic system is writing a code for a defined path and modifying it for future requirements. Programming robot via this traditional approach requires a lot of time and often disturbs the running process. Whereas, in the case of a Digital Twin model, the program can be adjusted or regenerated without disturbing the execution cycle of a physical robot

Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Ring-constrained and Biphenyl Derivatives as Hsp90 C-terminal Inhibitors

    Get PDF
Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is an ATP-dependent molecular chaperone that plays a pivotal role in protein homeostasis in responses to cellular stress. Hsp90 regulates the conformational maturation, activation, and integrity of a wide array of client proteins, including oncogenic proteins (Her2, Raf1, Akt, CDK4 etc.) associated with all six hallmarks of cancer. Consequently, Hsp90 inhibition offers a unique opportunity for the simultaneous degradation of multiple anti-cancer targets and hence, for the development of cancer chemotherapeutics. Hsp90 exists as a homodimer with each monomer consisting of a druggable domain; the N-terminal domain, the middle domain, and the C-terminus. The majority of research has focused on development of Hsp90 N-terminal inhibitors. In fact, all Hsp90 inhibitors in clinical trials belong to this class. One of the major drawbacks associated with N-terminal inhibitors is the concomitant induction of the pro-survival response, which results in an upregulation of Hsp's and affects the dosing schedule. As a result, alternative strategies are sought for the development of future Hsp90 inhibitors. Over the last decade, Hsp90 C-terminal inhibitors have emerged an attractive alternative for Hsp90 modulation. These inhibitors exhibit similar inhibitory activity to N-terminal inhibitors, but do not induce the pro-survival response and could potentially circumvent the clinical limitations imposed on N-terminal Inhibitors. Presented herein are the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of ring-constrained novobiocin analogues that provide new insights into the Hsp90 C-terminal binding pocket and SAR's that can be used for future analog development. In addition, identification of a novel class of Hsp90 inhibitors is discussed. These new agents provide a platform upon which future Hsp90 inhibitors can be built upon

    BTC Test Methodology

    Get PDF
This paper describes the testing methodology for the Broadcast Translation Circuit. It covers logic simulation, timing simulation, and a single push-button test for the device. The document is intended to be a supplement to documents WUCS-89-52 and WUCS-90-19, which outline the design of the BTC in full details. The intent of a push-button test is to have a single test that causes the device to process every type of packets that it could receive. This would include various combination of RC and OP fields, a test that examines every table entry thoroughly, as well as a test of the parity error detection and the signaling mechanism

Design of a VLSI Broadcast Translation Circuit

    Get PDF
This paper describes the design of a Broadcast Translation Circuit chip. The Broadcast Translation Circuit (BTC) provides unique addresses for each of the copies of a broadcast packet replicated by the copy network in a Broadcast Packet Switch [Tu85], [Tu86]. During a packet cycle or epoch, a packet is then passed on to the routing or distribution network. This chip has been fabricated in 2.0 μm CMOS technology

    Get PDF
Background: Madelung deformity is the result of bony and ligamentous dysplasia at the wrist that produces characteristic deformity and is usually recognized in late adolescence. Madelung like deformity can occur following trauma, infection or neoplasm. This esthetic deformity is encountered rarely in orthopaedic practice, when surgeon faces the challenging task to correct it using the best available technique. This study has been conducted to analyze the presentation, interventional procedures and their end result. Methods: We retrospectively analyze the clinical records, radiographs and functional outcome of patients who presented with Madelung and Madelung like deformity. Radiographic and clinical assessment was done.  Surgery was considered for patients fitting into the inclusion criteria. Dorsolateral close wedge and palmar open wedge osteotomy of radius were done with or without ulnar procedure. Postoperative protocol was followed and periodic assessment was done. Mayo modified wrist score has been used to evaluate the pre-operative and post-operative scores. Results: The study enrolled sixteen affected wrists. Average age in our study was 14 years with an average follow-up of 12 months. Statistically significant increase in range of motion of wrist was achieved for in surgically treated patients. Significant change in pain score, grip strength, RAU° and carpal slip was noted. Postoperative wrist score was also significantly improved. Conclusions: Our study concludes that there is a definitive role of surgical intervention to improve the range of motion of wrist, grip strength and reduces pain which brings the patient back into the main stream of a functionally independent being.

Background: Pharmacology practicals mainly focus on increasing the knowledge component but teaching on psychomotor and soft skills is largely lacking. Teaching correct method of intravenous drug administration and the communication skills about drug therapy in Pharmacology practical classes can help in minimizing the errors in drug administration and improving the patient compliance and adherence to the therapy. Objectives of this study were teaching module on intravenous drug administration and communication skills to undergraduate students in Pharmacology and to evaluate the perceptions of students and teachers towards the new teaching module. Methods: Correct methods of intravenous drug administration were demonstrated in practical classes. Role play was done to teach about communication skills regarding right method of using an inhaler and also about prescribing the correct dosage regimens. Perceptions of students and teaching staff members were collected on the teaching module. Results: Almost all of the students (>96 %) were of the opinion that learning correct drug administration methods and communication skills was relevant to the future practice and 95% students felt that after the role play sessions, they were better equipped in communicating with the patients about the medication use and were in favour of teaching these to all the medical students. Conclusions: Our study concludes that the teaching module on intravenous drug administration and communication skills was well accepted by both the teaching staff and the students and was found feasible and relevant to be introduced in the curriculum by both of them

Morscher’s osteotomy in posttraumatic sequale of hip in adolescent using dynamic hip screw: case report

    Get PDF
Premature closure of proximal femoral epiphyseal plate can be a complication of hip dysplasia, Perthe’s disease, trauma or septic arthritis of hip. It may eventually result in Coxavara and shortening of femoral neck and upward migration of greater trochanter. Morscher’s osteotomy is an intertrochanteric osteotomy that can create valgusization with lengthening of femoral neck, correction of high riding greater trochanter and compensates for short limb length as a single stage procedure. The purpose of this case report is to evaluate early results of Morscher’s osteotomy fixed using paediatric dynamic hip screw in adolescence

Quantifying long term changes in streamflow characteristics in Texas

    Get PDF
Streamflow characteristics change over time as a result of water resources development and management projects, water use, watershed land use changes, and climate changes. The main objective of this thesis is to assess the significance of the impacts of human activities such as construction of reservoirs, water supply diversions, increased water use and return flows on streamflows by the recently completed Texas WAM (Water Availability Modeling) system. The major river basins in the state of Texas were selected as suitable study basins. The particular objective is accomplished by the assessment of WAM monthly and annual naturalized and regulated flows, based on using the WRAP (Water Rights Analysis Package) model, which represents the river/reservoir management model. WAM flow frequency analysis was performed for the simulated flows. The flow ratio indices developed showed the divergence of the actual flows from their natural behavior for the entire monthly flow frequency flow spectrum ranging from minimum flows to high flows. This study describes the combined effects of reservoir construction, increased water use, water resources development projects and land use changes on the river flow regime
